cashmere season is here!

autumn cashmere layers

bring on the layers…

Its fair to say I’ve been in denial about the arrival of autumn and winter for one reason and another but now that it’s here, there’s nothing to do but embrace it for all the seasonal goodness it brings. It’s time to welcome in acorns that crunch under foot, crisp cool mornings, magical light in pink and grey hues… and cashmere. I find that a dose of the cosy good stuff will cure most forms of the post-summer blues - that first soft whisper against the skin, sleeves that are long enough to reach your fingertips and a blanket around the shoulders whilst sitting outside for the first coffee of the morning. I’m here for all of it…

Lounging around

At the end of the day, the beginning of the day, weekends and weekdays… cashmere loungewear is where it’s at. Soft textures, elasticated waistbands, cosy toes in socks and a hoodie big enough to house the whole family in is what I’m talking about. If you’ve ever had a crappy day, been caught in the rain or suffered from a case of the grey mizzle low mood, I guarantee you’ll feel better once you’ve slipped into something made of cashmere. Don’t question it, just try it and see.

Another of my cashmere rules? It’s not just for the wardrobe. Blankets - anywhere around the house as needed but especially on the bed and draped over the end of the sofa for cosy candlelit nights indoors. And speaking of which, I’m not sure cashmere actually has a smell but if it did then I’ll take a Cashmere Kush or wafts of Tuberose & Cashmere thank you. And in another life (the Ralph Lauren version), I would never go anywhere without my travel set comprising pillow, blanket and eye mask. Oh and don’t forget the slippers either.

Rise & Fall Wrap [Gift] | Jenni Kayne Cocoon Cardigan | The White Company Scarf | Jenni Kayne Boyfriend Sweater

You might have seen my Instagram post introducing a beautifully versatile cashmere wrap from Rise & Fall [gift] - actually… you probably didn’t as I’m not sure anyone sees anything on Instagram anymore. If you missed it you can check it out here - its the perfect winter staple for everything from cosy beach walks to winding around my shoulders when it gets cold at the desk. And on my wardrobe essentials list this year is a cashmere cardigan - I’m amazed that I didn’t think to purchase one eons ago if I’m honest. The Jenni Kayne cocoon version above has the perfect amount of slouch.

need a bit more cashmere?

COS Open Side Vest | H&M Cashmerely Lipstick | Cashmere In Love Bralet | Cashmere In Love Biker Shorts | Cashmere In Love T-shirt | H&M Headband

And if that wasn’t enough cashmere in your life then you clearly haven’t cottoned on to the “Cashmerely” lipstick (excellent wordplay H&M) or the cashmere bralet set from Cashmere In Love. On a cold day - it would have to be what I refer to as tit-freezingly cold for obvious reasons - I reckon I could go for it. And I guess the shorts would be something akin to thermals, definitely requiring a knicker layer underneath. Otherwise things could become mildly irritating… like I need more of that in midlife…
