Let it be known that I’m a bit of a sucker when it comes to a new beauty product launch - especially when there’s a whole new range of product and it comes from an established industry name like No7 - hands up who remembers the queues in Boots when they first launched the Protect & Perfect Serum back in 2007? I remember my friends and I being so excited because we’d managed to get out hands on a tube of the stuff… although back then, I don’t think I paid as much attention to the technical reasons as to why a cream might work well on my skin!

So what’s the deal with Future Renew? A fairly big one I would wager given that the launch comes off the back of fifteen years of research into skin ageing and repair. Products in the new range contain a new ‘super peptide’ blend proven to harness the skin’s natural repair process and the renewal of over fifty key proteins in skin cells. So far, so sciencey. The range underwent extensive and diverse testing on over 4,200 people - 51% had skin of colour - and the results showed the new super peptide to be both highly potent and highly tolerated, even in those with sensitive skin.

I have a limited knowledge of beauty product ingredients and what they do but am aware that whilst ingredients like retinol can be effective, they can also cause sensitivity in some skin. I’ve dabbled with them from time to time and for the most part get on okay with weaker formulas, although have found some to be way too tingly for my liking. So if No7 can deliver results without the need for this type of ingredient then I’m certainly willing to give it a go.

I’ve been using all four products coming up for a week or so now and am impressed by how they go onto the skin, their absorption and the fact that the Day Cream also contains SPF 40. SPF is a must and the more the merrier when it comes to my face ever since I began developing those dreaded darker patches that come with too much sun exposure in years gone by.

I’m also pleased it’s not being marketed as “anti-aging” or “promising a more youthful look” to skin. I’ve been around long enough to understand that of course, we all use products in a quest to keep our skin looking as good as possible - moisture in multiple forms is essential if we don’t want to go about being flaky and dry - but I really am sick of the messaging around age being something to avoid at all costs and youth being the one thing we should all strive to hang onto. Well played No7 for not falling into the trap of promising something that is equal parts unachievable and irritating!

The new No7 Future Renew range is available here at Boots and at No7 Beauty.
